SEA TURTLE AWARENESS, April 6th, 2024, Lake Belleview
Good afternoon, Friends of the Belle:
Saturday promises to be a beautiful day to volunteer at Lake Belleview and participate in Sea Turtle Awareness Day. From 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., volunteers will be greeted at stations for Sea Turtle and City of Clearwater information, raffles, nest painting with Lowes Commercial Painting and PPG paints, snacks and water, Birds of the Belle calendars, pickers, and gloves for clean-up walks.
In action, timing is everything; with recent rains, stormwater drains will have emptied trash from neighboring streets into Lake Belleview. The Belle is a spring-fed headway lake that distributes its overflow water throughout the City of Clearwater water management system, ending in the Gulf of Mexico. Efforts to pick up trash in and around the Belle impact not only Belle’s habitat but also Sea Turtles in the Gulf of Mexico.
Over 50 volunteers have preregistered; thank you in advance for your support. We encourage others who have not signed up to stop in and lend a hand. See the flyer, which will link you to the volunteer sign-in page.
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday,
With gratitude,
