Restore Lake Belleview

Neighborhood Day-Pier Opening

We share with you the joy of taking a step toward our goal to restore Lake Belleview. On March 25, the Lake Belleview Neighborhood Association hosted a dedication of the Lake Belleview pier, which included Ross Norton recreation staff, Lake Belleview neighbors, and City staff and elected officials. We extend our appreciation to Art Kader and City of Clearwater Recreation staff for answering the call to rebuild the pier. This pier will benefit everyone. And thank Betsy Putterman, Lake Belleview Neighborhood Association Vice President for creating a memorable event through song, that had the birds singing! Thank you.

Earth Day

We are motivated now, more than ever, to raise awareness for installing baffles that will limit trash from entering the Belle via storm drains from a far away as Alternate 19. As we approach Earth Day on April 22, we will present data to the City Council that notes the volume and type of trash collected in and around the Belle as measured by the Clearwater Aquarium Sea Turtle Conservation Team during monthly clean-ups.

Please be reminded that the April clean-up of the Belle is scheduled this Saturday, April 8 from 9-11 a.m.

To honor the 2023 Earth Day theme “Invest in the Planet” we will celebrate on April 22 at Belmont Park from 9-11 a.m. with a neighborhood clean-up hosted by the Community Service Foundation and City of Clearwater Recreation Department. Volunteers are encouraged to join in the legacy of action. Equipment, hospitality, and guidance by group captains Yusef Touray and Warren Kirkland will lead the way.

Petition To Restore Lake Belleview

Lake Belleview, a 30-acre natural resource is a treasure for the City of Clearwater and a centerpiece of the Lake Belleview neighborhood. This spring-fed freshwater lake is a habitat for native plants, migrating birds, and indigenous animals and fish. Its presence enhances the quality of life for everyone and everything around it.

Restoring Lake Belleview means a freshwater reserve for City residents during extreme droughts; a learning laboratory for environmental education and a recreational oasis preserved for future generations of the community.

The restoration of Lake Belleview, a headwater resource that flows throughout the City of Clearwater, will require monitoring water quality, managing invasive plants and pollution, and enhancing access to on-water activity.

The ‘‘Restore Lake Belleview Campaign” will leverage resources to build mutually beneficial relationships and multiply success. Local organizations dedicated to the campaign include:
